A
REBELLIOUS PEOPLE
Isaiah
30:8-13 “Now go, write it
before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the
time to come for ever and ever: 9
That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that
will not hear the law of the LORD: 10
Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy
not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
11 Get you out of the way,
turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from
before us. 12 Wherefore thus
saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in
oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon: 13
Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to
fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an
instant.”
The above
statement was made by God through Isaiah to the national of Israel.
It could have been written to most generations.
It is one that can truly be written about those living in the
world today in 2008. We can bring it even closer and apply it to those
living in America at this
time. Another step brings it to the religious world around us. Paul
spoke of those within the New Testament church that would not want to
hear sound doctrine, but would have itching ears and would turn from the
truth to fables. (2 Tim. 4:1-4)
The cry of
at least two generations is give us liberty, freedom and unbridled
restraint. They say, “let us do what ever we want and tell us it is
O.K.” The present state of immorality, lawlessness and break down of the
home and social responsibility are the results of following this
philosophy. It breeds
corruption from Washington to rural small town America. God has been
divorced from our laws, our lives and most of our religion. All manner
of sin from drugs, homosexuality, casual sex, alcohol, gambling, robbery
and murder are fostered by this mindset.
Listen again to what Isaiah said about the Jews of
his day: “prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us
smooth things, prophesy deceits.
Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the
Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.”
People WHEN WE DRIVE GOD OUT there is no way to go, BUT DOWN!
Listen to Solomon in Proverbs 14:34: “Righteousness exalteth a nation:
but sin is a reproach to any people.” We have rejected God, and we have
been deceived. We say we are “living the good life” when we are on the
road to ruin and destruction as a nation and eventually the damnation of
our souls in eternal punishment.
When those in power from the federal level to local community
leaders make a mockery of God and His word and belittle the foundation
upon
which this
nation
was
founded chaos and confusion can be the only result.
We as
members of the church need to first give ourselves a very close
examination to ascertain that
our lives our in total submission to the will of God. When we
have accomplished that then we need to be active and vocal as citizens
in seeking to bring God back into our society.
We cannot afford to be silent from either a spiritual state or as
a citizen of this nation. We have a God given responsibility of
spreading God’s will to those around us. We need to be very careful that
we to some degree don’t desire to be taught “smooth things” and not the
fullness of God’s will for us. We also need to be careful that we do not
put partisan politics above what is truth and right according to
God’s will, even if economic issue are at stake.
It would
not be fair to God’s word and the well being of our nation and our own
souls if we did not give warning against this willful departure from God
and His will. God said
because you have turned out of the way and despised My
word and trusted in oppression and perverseness, this iniquity
shall to you as a breach ready to fall, a swelling out in a high wall,
whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
The high walls of this nation are “swelling out.”
WARNING:
No people
or nation has rejected God and turned their backs against His will and
long survived. God will soon reject those that turn their backs on Him.
Take heed America!
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put
darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet,
and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own
eyes, and prudent in their own sight!”
