Elders

Each congregation of the Church of Christ is autonomous and is governed by a plurality of men known as Elders. In the Bible they are also known as Shepherds, Overseers, and Bishops, and they are responsible for the spiritual guidance of their congregation. Please read the following passages so that you may understand their qualifications and duties as given by the Lord:

Titus 1:5 ~ ~ 1Timothy 3:1-7 ~ ~ Acts 20:28 ~ ~ 1Peter 5:1-2

Curtis Brasher Charles James Jack Phillips

Deacons

In order that the elders may concentrate on the spiritual matters of the congregation, men called Deacons are also appointed. The Morris congregation has four such men. They serve in the day-to-day physical needs of the church. Their qualifications and duties may be found in the following passages:

Acts 6:3 ~ ~ 1Timothy 3:8-13

Kerry Newland Kenneth Peters Ellis Romine

Minister

Each congregation also has one or more ministers or preachers of the Gospel. The following scriptures relate to these men.

   Romans 10:14-15 ~ ~ 2Timothy 4:2 ~ ~ 1Timothy 4:12-16
