Dangers of Denominationalism
|
INTRO:
The dangers are almost as many as there are denominations and
denominational doctrines. Not possible to cover any where near all of
even the major doctrines. My approach to this topic is therefore,
perhaps from a different standpoint. Instead of looking at one or two
specific denominational doctrines and their dangers-I want to look at
the topic from a broad perspective. I. DANGER OF
CONFORMITY: 1 Samuel 8:18-20 And ye shall cry out in that day
because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will
not hear you in that day. 19 Nevertheless
the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but
we will have a king over us; 20 That
we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and
go out before us, and fight our battles Luke Matt. 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide
is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to
destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait
is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life,
and few there be that find it 2 Tim. 2 Cor. 6:14-15 Be ye not unequally yoked together with
unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with
unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And
what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that
believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the I don’t see ant thing wrong with it. Entertainment Popularity Hand Clapping Homosexuality II. DANGER OF

"Go worship with families
in the wilderness, only leave flocks and herds behind in 2 John 9-11 2 Tim. 4: 1- 4 Rev. 22:18-19 III. DANGER OF
CONTENTMENT: Jer. 8:11-12
For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people
slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. 12
Were they ashamed when
they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed,
neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that
fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the
LORD. Matt. 15:1-9 I was born a ___________,
I’ll die a ________________. 2 Tim. 2:15 2 Pet. 3:18 IV. DANGER OF
BEING CONSTRICTIVE: Seeing what one wants to see Luke John 12:39-40 Therefore they could not believe,
because that Esaias said again, 40 He hath blinded their eyes, and
hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes,
nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should
heal them. Matt 7:1-4 Judge not,
that ye be not judged. 2 For
with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure
ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3
And why beholdest thou the
mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is
in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out
the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own
eye? V.
DANGER OF CONTRADICTION: John 17:17-21 1 Cor. 1:10-13 Acts 18:6 And when they opposed themselves, and
blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood
be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will
go unto the Gentiles. 1 Cor. 12:12-30 VI. DANGER OF
CONDEMNATION: Matt. 1513 2 John 9-11 Ps. 127:1 2 Thess. 1:7-9 CLOSE: We must learn the truth-that God's word
is all sufficient
Being all sufficient it condemns division |
